Hannibal

HANNIBAL AD PORTAS! So went the phrase used by the Romans to express great fear. Hannibal Barca was an audacious Carthiginian general who very nearly changed the course of history for Rome's expanding sphere of influence. Check out some of the links on the right for Hannibal Barca.

Some images of Hannibal and Publius Scipio Africanus are here:

Shekel from the British Museum, c.221 BC, with Hannibal as Hercules on obverse, elephant on reverse

On the left, a bust of Hannibal, c.2nd century A.D., found near Naples

On the right, a portrait bust of
Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus
